• Preliminary figures for 2013 show increase in sales and earnings • Demand for out-patient treatment further increasing, in-patient treatment slightly above previous years level • Moderate growth in the number of employees Asklepios Kliniken GmbH, holding company of the health care Group Asklepios, presents encouraging preliminary results for fiscal year 2013. Around 2.2 million patients were treated in the hospitals and healthcare facilities of Asklepios Group which is an increase of 4.6 per cent over previous year. Especially the out-patient treatment showed a significant growth: the hospitals registered around 13 per cent more patients than last year. The number of in-patient treatments rose slightly.

• Number of patients treated develops positively • Improved margin year-on-year in Q3 2013; EBITDA increases by 7.2% to €71.4 million • Promissory note loan (“Schuldscheindarlehen”) of €300 million placed successfully • Further improvement of balance sheet ratios; increasing equity ratio The Asklepios Group continued to grow in the first nine months of the 2013 financial year: From January to September, 509,866 inpatients were treated, an increase of 0.5% compared to the same period of the previous year (9M 2012: 507,098). The number of outpatients increased by 8.9% to 1,069,444 (9M 2012: 981,954). High demand for inpatient medical services in the third quarter meant that after nine months Asklepios is now above the previous year here, too. The purely organic growth is also reflected by revenue, which increased by 2.9% to €2,251.0 million (9M 2012: €2,188.1 million).

• Clinic group successfully concludes one of Germany’s largest promissory note issues in the current year • Almost six-fold oversubscription reflects strong investor confidence in business model • More than 120 international institutional investors secured The Asklepios Group placed a promissory note loan (“Schuldscheindarlehen”) of €300 million in October. In light of the six-fold oversubscription to the promissory note, the originally planned loan amount was tripled to €300 million. In addition to savings banks, private and cooperative banks, institutional and international investors from Europe, China, Japan, India and other countries accounted for more than a third of the transaction. More than 120 parties invested in total. Together with the bond issued in 2010 and the syndicated loan of €325 million concluded in the middle of this year, the corporate financing of the Asklepios Group is therefore assured for many years to come with a high level of flexibility.

Organic growth improves in the second quarter – operative margin in the first six months still under that of the previous year. Once again, the Asklepios Group cared for considerably more patients in the first six months: Although the number of beds remained virtually unchanged, the number of patients treated rose by 5,6% to 1,043,030 million, the growth resulting from the outpatients’ department alone. The turnover increased thanks to the exclusively organically achieved growth by 2.6% to EUR 1,514.2 million. (1st Half-year 2012: EUR 1,472.5 million). The growth thereby increased in the second quarter of 2013, increasing by 4.1%.
