The healthcare group Asklepios Kliniken GmbH started the 2015 financial year successfully, as shown by the interim report as of 31 March, published today. The company, founded 30 years ago in June 1985, therefore continued the positive development of the previous year. Between January and March, the Group’s hospitals treated 558,690 patients, 2.9% more than in the same quarter of the previous year (3M 2014: 542,741 patients). Revenue increased to EUR 774.1 million (3M 2014: EUR 753.7 million); the purely organic growth amounted to 2.7%. While the number of beds was largely stable (-0.1% to 26,550 beds), the number of employees grew by 0.6% to 34,396 full-time equivalents. Utilisation increased from 83.9% in the same quarter of the previous year to 85.4% in the first quarter of 2015.

At Group level the Asklepios Kliniken Group is looking back at successful business performance in 2014. On the basis of a clear alignment as an integrated healthcare group, the Asklepios Group posted particularly good growth rates on the earnings and margins side. In the reporting year, approximately 2.2 million patients were treated in clinics of the Asklepios-Group – an increase of 2.6% against the previous year which was achieved on an organic basis. At 2.4% the upturn with outpatients was at a similar level as the 2.7% achieved with inpatient care. There was higher performance not only in the acute sector, but also in rehabilitation and with psychiatric facilities.

The Asklepios Group posted significant organic growth again in the third quarter of 2014. In the first nine months, Asklepios treated a total of 1,635,943 patients, a 2.8% increase on the same period of the previous year. Revenue increased by 4.2% to EUR 2,263.3 million (9M 2013: EUR 2,173.0 million).
